LR430 (Christensen) Interim study to examine Nebraska's laws regarding a person's right to self-defense by the use of force and to review the Castle Doctrine laws in other states

Ronvandyn:
Not being a student of the Nebraska legislative process this has little meaning to me.  What "Interim study", why is it in a committee room, and is there anything we can do to support this particular bill?

Ron

Bill:
Last session they didn't want to bring the bill out of committee until they researched how it compared to other states' version of the law.  Presumably this is a meeting to discuss the results of the research.  Or maybe it's a pre-results meeting to discuss what they're going to do with the results.

Ron: This is not a bill. This is merely a study and the purpose of the hearing is to solicit input from interested parties.

Basically, the sponsors of the bill ran into a roadblock in the Judiciary Committee last session. Rather than totally give up, they opted to convene an interim study to see if the law is necessary in Nebraska.
