Black powder available near Omaha?

(1/2) > >>

rluening:
Anybody here shoot charcoal burners?

My Dad is looking for a source of black powder near Omaha. Omaha bans selling it within city limits, and he has been unable to find anyplace else locally that carries it.

He has been hunting with Pyrodex for years, but continues to have ignition problems at times.

At one time I had heard of someone in Fremont who supplied black powder, but have lost the information.

Thanks!

FarmerRick:
Pretty sure I seen some at Cabelas the last time I was there, though I thought Guns Unlimited carried it.
Never heard of a ban on it in Omaha, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

rluening:
Neither Cabelas nor Guns Unlimited does. They both carry substitutes, but not true black powder.

A quick search of the Omaha Municipal Code didn't turn up the law, but I have seen it before. I will look around a little more tonight.

He could order it, but shipping outweighs the price of the powder.

I order it from Powder Inc http://www.powderinc.com/
or Upper Missouri Trading Co (here in Nebraska) http://www.uppermotradingco.com/.

If you order at least 5 lbs it makes up for the cost of shipping and HazMat.

FarmerRick:
Ok, well, you could try Dave Krecklow at the Yutan Gun Shop ~ 625-2930

Arms and Ammo in Fremont might have it too ~ 727-1401

Or, if you know someone going to the gun show out west this weekend(Dave Krecklow will be), I'm sure 3Lees will have some for sale there.
