From what I understand, as of Jan 1, Iowa will honor NE CCW permits.

This means I can travel through the treacherous Dutch infested region of NW Iowa with a fighting chance of getting through on the way up to Minnesnowta. (where my Utah permit takes over.)

It keeps gettin' better.

Yes my wife is looking forward to a shopping trip over to Council Bluffs (my house is about a mile from the border).

I just got back from a 4 day Christmas vacation at grandma's house southeastern Iowa. I'm still miffed that I couldn't carry concealed this time because of one week's difference. ::)

I saw on the NRA website that they will pursue an aggressive agenda this next year because of the favorable election outcome. You can read about it here:

I also am looking forward to this, I have to drive through Carter Lake to get gas (cheaper than NE by about 10 cents p/g).

My son's family is mostly in IA, so it's been refreshing to not have to disarm when getting into the truck at home to make my drive across the river (or to Carter Lake).  Granted, each of his family members have requested I leave the weapon in the truck when I get to their house, but... still... no longer feel like I'm missing my watch or a ring or something.

This past October my wife and I strolled across the foot bridge across the Muddy-Mo.  I stopped and showed her how silly Iowa is when i stepped back and forth over the state boundary line and chanted "criminal, legal, criminal, legal".  Ok, maybe I was the "silly" one that particular day... ::)

Permits are only an exercise against We the People anyway...
Imagine how gun control might be stomped if either of the NON-COMPROMISING lobbying groups, the Second Amendment Foundation or Gun Owners of America, had the NRA's 4 million members!
