Glock Armorer's course
« on: September 25, 2010, 09:39:08 AM »
NE Firearms Training will be hosting a Glock Armorer's class in Syracuse on January 25th..... Save the date now. This class will be taught by Glock Inc Staff. You must be a member of GSSF (Glock Sport Shooting Foundation) or a Law Enforcement Officer to take this class.

This class will certify you to work on Glock pistols, you will be able to order parts directly from the factory..... And you can purchase TWO Glock pistols at law enforcement pricing as an Armorer.

Typically this class is only offered in our area at OPD, however since they no longer allow us lowly civilians into their taxpayer funded building to attend this top-secret class........ We will have our own class. And yes any OPD officer is welcome to join us.

I will post more details as soon as the paperwork ...is finalized.

Is now available online.   www.glocktraining.com   Search the "class
schedule" by state. And then jump to page 11 to find the Nebraska class.

You will want to get on there and register NOW to secure a spot! (I don't
think they charge your CC until the class is closer, or even until it has
past).....

Class is in Syracuse, Tuesday January 25th 8am-5pm. The class will  be
taught by Joel Hodges, a retired Jacksonville, FL Lieutenant / SWAT
commander, who is currently a full time Glock Instructor.

Remember you will need to be a GSSF member to register (or LEO). So if you are not, I would recommend you go to www.gssfonline.com and send in a membership...... Then on your Armorer's course registration just indicate that you just joined GSSF.

Now, if you want to get the most out of this class........ here is what I
recommend. Study the Glock diagram and MEMORIZE every single part (BY THE
CORRECT NAME). This will make your life in the class easier, and you can
focus more on learning the inner workings of the gun rather than having to
memorize part names during class. Here are a couple breakdowns of Glock
pistols to help you learn the parts:

Just as long as Omaha students have time to vote after class....   ;D
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Farmer Rick

This Omaha student (me) and his wife voted today at the Douglas County Elections office on 114th and Davenport.   It was the First Day of Early Voting.

Went today because January 25 is a Long Day:  Chris' Glock Armorer's School all day, then a Hunter Ed program in the evening at Aksarben Aquarium.   No chance to vote on that day.

Wife and I got to the Elections Office, there were maybe 4-5 people ahead of us, including those being served.

'Bout 30+ people were crammed in there by the time we left.    They just kept coming in.

They looked Overtaxed and Mad.

See you at Glock Armorer's School on January 25.

it had been a week without getting my confirmation email so I called this morning and asked, they said they were busy with the weather and the holiday.  I had my confirmation email within minutes of the call.

A tip of the hat to Chris for setting this up.  The class was a blast and very informative.  I hope everyone who attended feels the same way.

I agree, thanks for setting this up Chris!  I learned a TON and feel much more confident when I take apart my G17!  :)  Of course, I can't wait to buy another one now!

Ditto on the thanks to Chris for setting this thing up.  It was a unique opportunity and would not have happened without his perseverance.

The Glock Armorer's School instructor was Joel Hodges, a 20+ year Jacksonville, FL SWAT Officer.   After LEO retirement, he did celebrity escort protection for a while and then linked up with Glock.   Now he travels the country, putting on the Glock Armorer's School.

He's 50-ish or so.   Totally buff.   You wouldn't want to tangle with him, mano-a-mano or with knife or gun.   Both of which he carries.   He's the personification of a Lean, Mean Personal Fightin' Machine.

Gentle, easy Good Ol' Suthrun' Drawl.   Outstanding teaching style.   Knew Glocks inside and out.

This guy is literally, an Instructor's Instructor.    And I can vouch for that fact, because about 1/3 of the people in the room were LEO armorers, instructors, etc.   Plus a bunch of us civilian instructor types, as well.   This guy Hodges really made the program hummmmmmmm.

Summary:   In the immortal words of the Great Ed Sullivan, it was a "Really Greaaaaaaatttttttt Shoooooooo......"   Thanks to Chris Z for arranging such an excellent venue.

Now I just gotta get a Glock.    [Gonna use that Glock Shooting Sports Foundation Special Buy Program as soon as I figger out Which Model.]
