The Senate passed unanimously a bill Monday that would require non-Utahns to obtain a concealed weapon permit from their home state before being issued a Utah permit.

The bill, SB36 authored by Sen. John Valentine, R-Orem, aims at working with 33 other states that have reciprocity agreements with Utah ? allowing states to maintain more control over their concealed weapons permit records.

Unanimous vote.... This will suck for those who live in states where they can't get a permit....... Of course Florida is still an option.

Guess now is the time to get one if you don't have it yet

Roper:
Yeah, it sucks for those who live in states w/out CCW laws... or..... maybe it will get them motivated to start an organization like NFOA and get something done in their state capitals.  People have to stand up and make it happen locally!!

Husker_Fan:
I can see the logic, but doesn't a requirement like Nebraska's that a resident must have a NE permit accomplish the same thing?  If the other states are bothered by it, why not just require their residents to get a home state permit to carry in their home state.  That way folks from no-carry, or may-issue states can still get a UT permit and carry elsewhere.
