What are "Matches"

(1/3) > >>

kozball:
Hey everyone, I'm an older guy that has been away from gun sports for more than a few years, and am a newb to this forum and NFOA. I keep seeing posts for "matches", i.e. CMP,Military, 3gun, Big Bore, F-class. What are these about? Could someone offer some basic info as to what they are? or point me to website that has that info.? Thanks

A match is a competition.  Most local clubs have them, and they're a great way to meet lots of nice people and hone your skills.

I guess maybe I was not clear enough. I assume that there is a "match" for just about anything with a trigger. How do you know which one is for what type of firearm? Like what do you shoot at F-class? Is there a listing of "classes" with what type of firearm is allowed? I would be interested in semi-auto hand gun and small bore rifle.

Thanks

Now that you have internet access kozball, you need to find out about the wonders of a search engine.

The link above is a Google search for  " f class match"

Not sure about the small bore rifles, but as for hand guns, options abound 'round here. Depending on your location.  Around Lincoln, I enjoy the monthly 'Rock Your Glock' matches at the Izaak Walton near Bennett. Open to most all brands and configurations: Revolver, Semiauto in single stack or double stack, and then levels depending on stock or 'race gun', sights and such.  As I tell folks, if you think you can shoot, try it, you'll find out how crappy you really are. But great group of folks and will help you thru. Info here: http://rockyourglock.tripod.com/index.html
There are a few practical pistol shoots around, the folks at the Eastern Nebraskan Gun Club put on some great pistol shoots and 3-gun style competitions out by Louisville. I know there is more but these are the ones I know of.
