Senator shoots intruder

AAllen:
Fly one of the reports I read said this is the second time in 2 years, so it happened in 2009 and again in 2011.

As greg said "What a hippo-crit."

shaggy853:
gonna take some looking to straighten this out.

according to wikipedia, R.C. Soles was born in 1934.

this article is dated 2009:

this article is dated 2011:
http://www.fieldandstream.com/forums/backlash-and-blowback/anti-gun-senator-shoots-intruder
but it says that R.C. Soles was 74, so that would mean that this 2011 article is referencing the 2009 incident if he was born in 1934.

Apparently in 2009 Soles shot Blackburn as Blackburn and Wright tried to kick in his door.  Soles was indicted for this in 2010:

In 2011 Wright came back and was beating on Soles' garage door and Soles once again fired his weapon.

It doesnt say if he fired it in the air or at Wright.

Holy hand grenades batman! You're right.  This guy is a real loose canon.  Two shootings in two years? On the first one he pleaded guilty to "assault with a deadly weapon" and was fined $1,000.  How does he still have possession of a firearm? Or are NC laws much more loose?

OnTheFly:
One of the articles (http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20100301/ARTICLES/100229673?tc=ar) says that assault with a deadly weapon is a misdemeanor.  Is that the case in Nebraska?  Does not seem right.

shaggy853:
id call that special treatment, as the article suggests.
