1911 Swiss K11 Project

For those who are into the vintage bolt guns I thought I would post up my latest entry into the field. I am presently shooting Mosin Nagants and wanted to head in another direction for my next project. The 1911 Swiss is the fore runner of the K31 Swiss rifles one sees on the milsurp market. They are chambered with a more forgiving leade in the throat  and can be handloaded for some easier than the upgraded K31 with its ultra short leade. The down side is that they are harder to come by and carry a fairly higher price tag. One in excellent condition can bring close to $800 or so. After all these rifles are almost 100 years old and some indeed are. If you look around there are some that that can be had at bargin prices that suffer from battered stocks and surface rust but still have good bores and shoot just fine. I finally found one such and spent a bit of time cleaning up both stock and hardware. I had it out to the range today and was rewarded with some fine shooting. One of the best triggers in the milsurp world and perfect function along with fine accuracy. I am going to work up a cast bullet load for it to keep shooting costs down and eventually take it to a match or two.

Well now, thats a bit different.  What is the ring at the end of the bolt for, firing pin?  I know nothing about these rifles.

Hi Ron,
Its the safety (pull back and rotate to the left) and can be used to re-cock the firing pin in case of a misfire. It also allows you to decock the rifle with out pulling the trigger. A bit diffrent but functional and easy to use. The triggers on these guns are really the most outstanding thing about them. The straight pull system is smooth and functional as well. I never really paid much attention to them until Monkey Boy let me give his a try. I was instantly hooked and had to get one.

I got an email from CDNN sports today.  They have walnut stocked K31's on sale for $179.  I would buy one but I'm tapped out.  You won't see a deal like that again on these rifles.

Amen to that Simo. I would be all over it but my gun budget is down to the bone too. I have had to swear off GB for the rest of the summer.
