Nebraska Gun target of robbery attempt

Looks like Jeff has been hit (quite literally) again.  I hope they catch the dirt bags.

Yep...last August.  Not sure how much surveillance video would cost, but it would not do anything to recoup his cost of repair.  It would only (maybe) help catch the criminals, and MAYBE deter future robbery attempts.

Computer based web-cam surveillance can be pretty cheap.  Even a fairly good system would be under $1000 so if he doesn't have any interior or exterior cameras he's doing less than I would.  Then again it's all a matter of skills and time.  I know about such things, and he knows about running a gun store.   :-\

In Jeff's defense, as if he needs any.  All the cameras in the world would not stop the idiots around this town. The store is about as secure as it can be for what and where it is.  The problem I see is that if he has to front the money for cameras and a more secure building, he would not be able to sell $100 mosins or $250ish SKSs.  You can go across town to the 'more secured' store and buy $250 mosins and $400 SKSs.
How about we show the fella a little love and patronize the store more, keep the stock rotated and put a little love (cash) in his pocket for upgrades.
again, jus my 2 cents.

I'm surprised his insurance carrier doesn't require it.  I wasn't taking a pot shot at Jeff ... so to speak ... just surprised that after a previous break-in or attempt his insurance carrier didn't require security cameras of some sort.

As far as patronizing him goes, it's a zero-sum game.  Whatever goes in his pocket come out of Rod's (Moeller) pocket.  ;D

i had stopped by the day after it happened and he was cleaning up.  i asked him why he was cleaning up and he told me the story.  we talked about it a little bit.  i asked about cameras and he said he'll be getting them for sure.  i really like jeff and he runs a good store.

Security cameras are no good unless they capture a good face shot. Placement is critical. When combined with a properly installed security alarm, they can capture video of a smash and grab, but not prevent all attacks.

I've been installing alarms and cameras for 16 years, some people are just willing to attempt a break-in no matter what. The alarm makes them leave sooner with less theft, the cameras capture them doing it, but neither one will stop all attempts. Bullet proof glass should be installed for maximum results, but is very expensive.

I like his idea of the concrete posts, and it might actually help out a bit.

Maybe we could donate some of our time to helping him put them in?  I dont live in Lincoln but I love a good security project and would be happy to donate a few hours.  After all, he is one of "us".

The man who ran the shop there before Jeff is a friend of mine and he rented the building from Jeff.  He had 2 attempts and one successfull breakin.  Attempts were drive a truck through the back wall. Did not work, come through the roof, did not work.  Success was done by breeching the front door with a shotgun at 2AM  lost a Glock and something else.  Lincoln police recovered the Glock with the serial number plate removed. Even though federal law says steal a gun from a FFL dealer and it is mandatory 10yrs federal prison no parole unless the locals turn it over to the feds it is nothing, this guy did like 60days or something similar as part of a rat out your buddy plea bargain.  ATF assigned a new serial number to the Glock and I did the engraving on the frame.

I like Ron's idea.  I bet if we all chipped in time/labor/a little cash, he could have posts all around the store.

I'm game, I can build forms like a mofo.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.
