BATFE Study on the Importability of Certain Shotguns

Conclusion
The purpose of section 925(d)(3) is to provide a limited exception to the general prohibition on
the importation of firearms without placing “any undue or unnecessary Federal restrictions or
burdens on law-abiding citizens with respect to the acquisition, possession, or use of
firearms….”
Our determinations will in no way preclude the importation of true sporting
shotguns.  While it will certainly prevent the importation of certain shotguns, we believe that
those shotguns containing the enumerated features cannot be fairly characterized as “sporting”
shotguns under the statute.
Therefore, it is the recommendation of the working group that
shotguns with any of the characteristics or features listed above not be authorized for
importation.

In other words, say goodbye to Saiga shotguns being imported.
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

I doubt that those already here would be outlawed. It seems they are trying to prevent the importaton of any new ones. Even if this goes through it will just be like what currently happens with Chineese SKS's and saiga AK's. They are imported without all the "evil features" then enough american parts are swapped out for it to be 922r compliant and it can then have as many "evil features" as you like.

Chinese SKS's(and AK's) have not been imported to the USA in any fashion for over 15 years.

This is similar to what happened to AK parts kits... the BATFE decided that they could no longer be imported with the barrels intact.  Now, most AK's you can buy here in the states has a crappy non-chromelined US made barrel on it.

Just more ridiculous restrictions imposed on us at the whim of the feds.
