Not strictly speaking gun related but

Several sources are reporting that Osama bin Laden was killed a week ago in an air strike.  DNA evidence confirms ID.

watching obummer use this as a show that he actually did something with his term.

However, what of the cerebus effect?  cut off one head, another shall take its place.

I have often thought it would be best to kill him and hide the body.  All the radicals need is another martyr.  The important thing is to stop him from inflicting any more harm.  We don't need to drag his body behind behind a horse or stick his head on a pole.  It may make us as a nation feel better for a while, but it will only produce more radical enemies for us.

Some may feel that today is a time to rejoice. For me it is a time to reflect, remember and reaffirm my Patriotism. I hope and believe that this is for the best, but this has made him a Martyr. Bin Laden may be dead, but understand al-Qaida is not. This will most likely insight more violence very soon. Be prepared, be watchful. Hope for the best, but expect less. The war on terror will not end soon.

We must continue to fight the good fight. Stay safe, stay vigilant.

Although we can't guess what future events might be set in motion by Bin Laden's killing, we can be grateful for the hard men who will go to the edge to defend our freedoms.  That Seal Team Six are as much American heroes as Lafayette or Jimmy Doolittle.

Early reports, as they often are, were wrong on the air strike.

Personally I'm glad it was a team of Americans rather than a bomb.  This way he knew we were coming for him.  It's not very Christian of me to want vengeance, but nobody's perfect.   :)

Reports indicate one woman was killed when one of the men in the compound tried to use her as a human shield.  I feel bad for her since I'm sure she was not there of her own free will, as women in that culture are basically slaves.  It just goes to show what scumbags these people are. 

In real terms this won't do much to Al Queda since they've become a decentralized organization.  I'm still glad to see hoim dead, though.

To further that thought, there was an article in the paper this morning about how a 12 year old was recruited to be a suicide bomber.  Killed four people (besides the bomber) including one government official they were targeting.
