A 9 year old boy standing in front of his home is grazed by a bullet from some thugs in a drive by :o

http://www.1011now.com/home/headlines/Omaha_9-year-old_Wounded_in_Drive-by_Shooting_124771969.html

Not a lot of info yet, but what really chapped me was the first comment,  and I quote:  "Our great service men and women lay there lifes down for us and keep us safe and our freedom but don't think they are for this super crazy people shooting guns for fun.Get these guns out of the stores and off the streets.PLEASE"

I know, I know, I need to stop reading the news, especially the comments. Thank goodness a couple of folks got on and attempted to put the record straight that the persons are at fault, not the guns.

Edited to include link I forgot to paste.

I couldn't help but wonder if the bullet came from a gun that was straw purchased. A week or so ago a guy was sentenced to only 20 months for 5 (FIVE!!!) counts of purchasing firearms for convicted gangbangers.
That story was a three line "blurb". Where were the "get the guns off the streets" crowd then? He should have gotten 5X5....5 sentences of 5 years CONSECUTIVELY. That may have deterred the next one;and showed they are serious about ILLEGAL guns.    Perhaps the NFOA should be asking the politicos why the system is so lenient on gun crimes?  RJ

But yet, if a law abiding CHP holder doesn't see a little sign, he/she would be charged with a felony, lose permit, firearm, etc ( a life setenence as far as law abiding gun owners are concerned)

Oh, and did I mention that my own son is 9 and lives in the Omaha metro with his mom. My heart skipped a beat or 2 when I read the headline!  ;)
