Fundamentals of Shooting class, July 30th
« on: June 14, 2011, 09:51:42 PM »
Precision Response Training will be holding a Fundamentals of Shooting (Pistol) class on July 30th.

The Fundamentals course is precisely that---a course teaching, analyzing, and drilling the fundamentals of effective handgun manipulation. Most shooters really don't know how to analyze their own practice, and thus errors and non-optimal methods begin to creep in over time---and most people don’t notice. Or worse yet, couldn’t tell the difference if they had noticed.

The Fundamentals course is not only for new shooters who wish to progress from basic bullseye practice to competition practice or defensive tactics, but also for experienced shooters who wish an analysis of their fundamentals to reduce error and improve their shooting.

Quite frankly, this is perhaps the most useful course we offer for the majority of shooters. Please see the Fundamentals Section http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Philosophy.html#Fundamentals on our Philosophy page on the PRT website for more discussion about why we believe this is so important.

In the end, effective shooting comes down to an efficient application of the fundamentals in any given situation-and this course will help you create and lock in effective fundamentals for shooting.

Registration is available on the website (and all registrations are handled by secure server---your information is protected).

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at prt@precisionresponse.4t.com

Registration is limited, so if you are interested, reserve your spot early.  If all slots are filled, you will be notified by email and put on a waiting list for future slots as they become available, if you wish.

Speaking bluntly, unless you have tried some pistol competitions, or engaged in some tactical training that included stress situations or adrenaline-based scenario training---you probably don't really know the level of your ability. Because of that, you won't really know what you need to do to make yourself better. This class will show you exactly what you need to work on.  (Or at least, work on first.)    :)

"Please dress appropriately for the weather on the range day. Our range area does not have running water nor overhead cover ( Nor a Restroom), so feel free to bring water/snacks, and don’t forget sunscreen and bugspray."

PLEASE say there is an outhouse. :-\

The other thing that I noticed was 600 rounds. Seems like alot, but I am sure there is a great reason for it.

Truthfully, we'll probably only shoot about 400-500----but this way, no one has any excuse for not going out afterward and PRACTICING some of the drills from the class.   ::)   (I'll note that it is an 8-hour class, so 75 rounds an hour isn't really pushing it, I think.)

As for restroom---nope, no outhouse.  Go before you come to the range, and go during our lunch break.  The rest of the time---you've gotta hold it.    :)

I had some interesting responses from people (off this forum) regarding the necessity for "fundamentals" classes and such, so I stood in front of a camera one day and made some commentary.

I then went through it with a video editor and cut most of the blather and nonsense, and hopefully left some decent discussion on WHY everyone should really take a fundamentals course.

If you've got a moment, you might watch it and let me know what you think---who knows?  Maybe I'm full of it.  :)
