Sporting Nebraska: A guide to Nebraska's Outfitters and Outdoor Opportunities.

Dear Sports Enthusiast:
When most folks think of Nebraska agriculture, they usually picture endless fields of grain and vast pasture lands. However, few people realize that farmers and ranchers of this great state are responsible for more than just the production of food and fiber -- they are the primary stewards of the land, protecting the water and soil which provide for their livelihood, and creating and maintaining the habitat essential to the survival of our abundant wildlife.

In its continuing mission to support and promote family agricultural enterprises, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture is proud to present a directory of fee-based outdoor activities. The Department wants to help promote alternative and additional uses of farmland for a number of reasons: a) it supplies an additional source of farm income; b) it enhances environmental efforts to improve wildlife habitat, including keeping CRP acres out of production; c) it encourages rural economic development activities; and d) perhaps, most importantly, it helps to improve farmer/hunter relations.

We hope you enjoy using this directory as you seek new and exciting outdoor or sporting opportunities. For farmers and ranchers, we hope the Department's efforts in developing new opportunities for the utilization of your farmland is beneficial to your operations. In any case, we invite you to share your comments and ideas with the Ag Promotion and Development Division of the Department as we strive to build upon and improve this program in the future.

In the meantime, enjoy the "Good Life!"
