NFOA Shooting Range Survey
« on: November 15, 2011, 09:57:20 PM »
The NFOA survey of Nebraska shooting ranges is currently in progress at:

http://nebraskafirearms.org/nfoa-range-survey/

Your help is needed to complete this survey.  We want to list shooting ranges and facilities of all types in the state, both public and/or members-only.  You can scroll to the bottom of the survey page to see the ranges that have already been entered.  This information will be used in partnership with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in the development of future shooting facilities in the state.

Thanks to CitizenClark, OnTheFly, and Dan W for their efforts in developing this survey.  If you have any questions, please reply to this post, or contact me by PM.  Thanks!

I emailed G&P the other day asking for confirmation that target shooting is permitted on certain WMAs and SRAs in Lancaster Co. My original list was derived from the Public Lands portion of the G&P 2011 Hunting Guide (See http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/hunting/pdf/huntguide.pdf). I haven't had time to add any of these to our master list via the new survey, but this information might be helpful for folks in Lancaster County:

Pat,

Could you confirm that target shooting is permitted at the following areas
in Lancaster County?:

   - Branched Oak WMA
   - Little Salt Creek West WMA
   - Little Salt Creek WMA
   - Olive Creek Lake SRA
   - Pawnee Lake SRA
   - Stagecoach Lake SRA
   - Teal Lake WMA
   - Wagon Train Lake WMA
   - Wildwood WMA

I got this reply today:

I filled in notes behind the areas you questioned  and added some maps. Please be sure to pay  special attention to safety. Some of these areas are open but do not lend themselves very well to safe target shooting and they have many homes around them. It's probably a matter of time before they are closed to target shooting. Be sure to clean up any targets, empty shells and other trash when you leave. No what's beyond your target. Good luck.

*   Branched Oak WMA - Spillway closed, North of Marina closed, North of dog trial clubhouse closed (see map) Parks ground closed
 *   Little Salt Creek West WMA - Open but not very much of the area offers safe shooting with rifles
 *   Little Salt Creek WMA - Open but not very much of the area offers safe shooting with rifles
 *   Olive Creek Lake SRA - Spillway closed, parking areas closed, Parks grounds (campgrounds/parking/etc.) are closed. (see map)
 *   Pawnee Lake SRA - Parks ground is closed, Northwest portion is closed. NO centerfire or rimfire rifles or pistols allowed
 *   Stagecoach Lake SRA - Parking areas and Parks ground is closed (see map)
 *   Teal Lake WMA - Open but not very much of the area offers safe shooting with rifles

(The maps mentioned above are too big to include in this post, but are available here:
