Nebraska Law must change...

<< < (2/4) > >>

armed and humorous:
I like the idea of the radio spot, and I think it will "wake up" a lot of people who either hadn't thought about the situation at all, or thought mistakenly that the negative ramifications of a self-defense didn't exist here in Nebraska.  It won't change the antis' minds, but probably nothing short of them experiencing the problem first hand ever will.

I don't know what it cost to produce and air this spot, but I would like to see several different versions, each hilighting various aspects of the proposed legislation.  Not only would they enhance the arguments for a castle doctring, but by varying the messages, people wouldn't get turned off by hearing the same spot over and over.

This spot runs around $5,000.00 to produce and air 100 times

We spent close to $5000 to produce and put this first spot on the air on 3 radio stations that primarily cover the Omaha - Lincoln areas of the state.  These ads will run for 10 days and are expected to reach approximately 73,000 people who will hear them about 3.5 times during that time.

All funds used to Lobby by law must be donations, so I am certain you guys understand that this completely wipes the amount in our treasury that has come from "Donations."  Funds such as are raised from the raffles etc. are not donations and while they are needed to pay expenses such as the hosting of our website and costs dealing with the annual members meeting, they can not be used to pay for these grass roots efforts.  That is why we are asking people to think about donating another $5.00 or more if you can.  We have the desire to run this add or similar adds in more areas of the state as well as doing direct mailings to districts where there is the most need to provide a little push to the Senators to support this bill.  Without replenishing those donated funds we will be unable to do any of those things.

So if you haven't already please take a moment to donate to this effort.

Ross Berck:
50 sent your way, keep it up...Will we see any legislation to change the insane laws regarding anticcw signs?  The nevada law is very nice ie:carry anywhere there is not a metal detector at the entrance...really puts the criminal at the same armed status as the law abiding(signs only restrict the law abiding)...

Dan W:
Right now, bills to require the signage to be legally consistent (LB88) and reduce the penalties for violations (LB512) are stuck in the Judiciary committee with little hope of making it out
