Loading for the 9mm

<< < (2/2)

Randy:
Lee has the patents on many of today's modern loading equipment.
Some he had to sue for and other bought the rights out right.

While there are better machines out there there are no better Dies.

I use a Lee 1000.

I purchased the Lee 4 die set for 9mm and have loaded about 140 rounds. I started with HS-6 and it was OK - maybe a little dirty but not any worse than WWB. I have also loaded some Universal and Longshot as those were the 3 powders I have on hand from 12ga reloading. I have yet to shoot the latter 2 yet but plan to soon. As far as bullets go I bought 2 - 100ct boxes of Hornady XTPs in 124gr and really like these bullets just not the price. I also found some Berry's plated 124gr HPs but haven't shot them yet either.

Thanks to everyone for the help - now I just have to decide what "THE" load is going to be for my 9mm.

Dan W:
My experience with HS6 is that it cleans up at the higher pressure and velocity. It is a good powder to learn on because a double charge will over flow the case in 9mm. I still shoot some HS6 rounds I have loaded in the past, but now I mostly use AA#5 for 9mm and .45 acp
