Assistant Chief David Baker Named Interim Omaha Chief
sjwsti:
I'm not a fan. From what Ive been told he is responsible for dismissing any plans to arm the OFD Tactical Medics who operate with OPD SWAT. He also made the decision several years ago to not allow us to even participate in any live fire training with the team. Even though for three years prior we had trained and shot to the same standards as anyone else on the team. He would never go were we go unarmed, but he expects us to do it. Ive told my wife to name him personally in the lawsuit she will file in the event of my death during a high risk warrant, hostage rescue or active shooter dispatch. The sooner he is gone the better. Rant off.

--- Quote from: Mudinyeri on March 19, 2012, 12:27:32 PM ---The nationwide search for Omaha's retired chief has begun. Meanwhile, Assistant Chief David Baker will be in charge. Anyone know Baker? Based on his publicity photo, he looks like he might not live long enough for a new chief to be hired. :o

He already rubs me the wrong way and I remember him at the hearings last year. Seems like another anti-gun zealot to me.
David Hineline:
I do not know the Chief, but I have known his brother since 1980 when I got my first job out of college. His brother is definatly pro-gun.
Phantom:
They need to prorate the retirement benefits based on the number of years
actually employed doing the job.
not just total years as a LEO.
say 5 or 10 percent added for each year serving as chief or some thing like that.
or maybe 5 % for each year for the first 5 years and then 10% for each year after that.
