Remington standing up to Bloomy
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:45:11 PM »

ALBANY — One of the world’s major gun manufacturers is threatening to pull its plant out of New York over a gun bill pushed by Mayor Bloomberg.

Remington Arms Company, in a recent letter to Gov. Cuomo, said it may be forced to bail on the Empire State if a law requiring bullet casings to carry unique markings is enacted.

Supporters argue the technology, known as microstamping, would help solve gun crimes. Detractors say it’s unreliable, easily tampered with and costly.

Remington has a manufacturing plant that employs more than 1,000 workers in the village of Ilion, about 90 miles west of Albany.

“Mandating firearms micro- stamping will restrict the ability of Remington to expand business in the Empire State,” company chief strategy officer Stephen Jackson Jr. wrote to Cuomo.

Good for them. Still won't buy any of their products until they discontinue the 770 series. Anybody willing to put a product that bad on the market and not stand by it with their supposed warranty won't get my business. (bolt handle broke off when the chamber wouldn't open and they say it is excessive force, the chamber didn't open then either)

Still love people sticking it to hoplophobe Bloomberg

Wish people could see this sort of thing for what it is.
Nearly everything is money motivated. Some company is pushing their product on a bureaucracy to make a buck. The bureaucracy gets to set up laws, monitor, records...and all sorts of red tape to show their concern for public safety (read that as a reason for the resulting taxation).
Again, all the good people pay...bad guys will find a way around it.
