One of these days I'll get some dies for my Martini-Henry and we'll have a vintage black powder cartridge military rifle match.  VBPCMRM.

If you are shooting a standard sighted Mosin with milsurp ammo try holding on the bottom of the paper centered for windage and you should be in the black. Sight in targets are provided starting at 08:00 to 09:00 to get a feel for where you are at. No sighting shots after the match starts but spotting scopes and coaching are permitted during the match. With ten minutes to shoot ten rounds you have plenty of time to spot your shots and make corrections to get the best score you can.

Another trick that works well with Mosin sights that shoot too high is to get a piece of heat shrink tubing and slip it over the fron sight post, then trim it down until your elevation is correct.  This lets you have a taller front sight (shoots lower) without permanent modifications.
