I have to agree with Dan on the following:

"I think our best bet to get action is be the squeaky wheel... every applicant that is delayed needs to demand that they follow the law, and if they fail to respond, push the complaints up the chain to the Governor and the AG."

Following the law is what is important here.  All civilians are subject to punishment by law if they do not follow it.  I heard from the N.S.P. that there are an overwhelming number of applicants- I believe them- BUT:

An overwhelming number does not nullify or void the law.

I could for example -not renew my license plates as the gentleman mentioned earlier in this post.  Even if I said I had an overwhelming amount of bills to pay, that's why I didn't renew them;  It still does not nullify the law.

I would be subject to prosecution, fines, jail-time, and the impounding of my vehicle.  A fundamental step of renewing license plates involves a deadline as well.  If we don't follow it, we are punished.

I don't see why the N.S.P. is not subject to the same rules & regulations.

This is my two cents that I am sharing, I also encourage all opinions and views.

Much respect to all of those who shared & have a great night.

Thanks!

Dan - I think I seen something to that effect too, If that's the case then it could be the N.S.P. just not being prepared for the sheer numbers - no excuse and it needs to be fixed ASAP, plus how much do you think the weather had to do with the additional numbers in the first Quarter --- by the way I am never done -  -----Neal

Can I ask that everyone who is past due on receiving their permit please send a polite email to the Ag's office, I'm going to be there on Wensday so I will stop in to speak with the staff there and them having received several comments / complaints will make the discussion I have have a little more force behind it.  With a little luck we may be able to get something worked out Wednesday.

That sounds like a great idea to me.  I have sent emails to the A.G. & Governor's office.

I am glad to know that a N.F.O.A. member will be there to represent us and discuss this issue.

Thanks!

A quick suggestion.  People who haven't received their permits within the 45 days, should contact the State Ombudsmans office.  It is their duty to investigate why state agencies are not following the law.  If everyone files who has had to wait over 45 days, the Ombudsman's office should help.

AAllen, I just emailed the a.g. so that ought to be there by the time you get there Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by the a.g.'s office and checking this out for us.  I hope that something can be done because it's bike season and it is not easy to legally carry if you don't have a CCW.

Today marks 54 days for me (first time app) I called the Lincoln office on Tues. and received a call back on Wed. telling me it would be at least 1-2 more weeks and that the Federal check was back but the State background check hasn't been done yet.  Frustrating.

Les,

Please be sure to email the Governor, the Attorney General, and the Ombudsman.  I believe they are in violation of the law.

I am going to make noise until they get my permit as stated by law.

I will update everyone with what happens with my permit on Monday.
