Just an observation:

Open forum....
Times commonly gone from home....
What is in house....
Travel plans and duration...

Sometimes "need to know" is a wise security.

True,

As far as what is in the house: Nothing they didn't already know. Except the safe, which I could not imagine would encourage them. Unfortunately most of the neighbors know about the security system, due to my dumbass setting it off a few times.

Travel Plans/schedule: was purposely being inaccurate, and nothing that they could not observe anyways.

As far as other people, no real location, no relevant or accurate info was given, and there are much easier ways to steal firearms in Nebraska than perusing relatively obscure forums.

I assure you, I do not volunteer any real info to the neighbors. None of them even know my real name.

That being said, you do have a point. Good looking out :)

Besides, the forum really isn't "open" per se.  When I registered it took 6 months to get my account activated lol.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

Bought a motorcycle from a guy...who would not return my calls over paperwork.
After I reached the point of resolve, a few minutes of internet search had his parents names, address and phone numbers (father was the actual owner...sold via son), wifes cell phone number, where the guy worked, church...actually quite a bit of life, school and family history in a very short search. Just a simple "google" search, nothing too elaborate. Called the wife, who said "his phone was broken"...guy called me back 5 minutes later on "his broken phone"...realizing that screening calls would not work.

Have used this several other times to get info on someone. It all brings the realization that someone with a bit more experience and resolve could get much more than most people would want them to have. There are so many public records (Property tax) and various registries, that it can be very easy to find identity and trace to other records. It is amazing what web crawlers capture and retain in cache even after the orignial info is removed.

People are clever and find ways around everything.

Sometimes when I'm bored at work, I'll search the net for myself. Thankfully, there isn't a clue. I also searched around for info about loved ones and had them delete anything I could find.

Hell, I'd almost be more afraid for them if they try something.

But in seriousness, sounds like you're handling it the right way. I don't know what I would do, in the same situation. Let us know how things turn out and stay safe.

By the way, I believe this robbery is the reason Scheels now has the unattractive metal mesh over the display cases.  My understanding is that their insurer made them install the new cases.

Just when I thought the situation had been diffused...

2 fights today. First one was just shouting and shoving, then it broke up. Second escalated into baseball bats, tire irons, someone got hit with a car. Cops showed up just after it broke up. First one was just a few people, second one was about 15 black males, few cars damaged and some minor injuries as near as I could tell.

Minor victory, I just saw 2 of them get carted off. I assume the fuzz will want to talk to me here in a minute. :)

These guys were milling about in front of your house and started brawling?

Ah, don't worry.  I believe this is where nobody gets ticketed because "victim was uncooperative" and they can't prove anything...

Actually, today was the first time I've seen any real collection since the last time I called the cops on them. They've come around in groups of 2 or 3, but don't stay longer than 5 minutes. Found out from LPD that someone had a pistol, 3 where tracked down and arrested, and 2 of those had outstanding warrants. They said a few had turned up at hospitals as well and are awaiting questioning. Also, I will probably be getting a court summons.

Also, there was a shooting a few blocks away last night, and someone got the snot kicked out of them earlier in the day about a block away. Didn't know about those until LPD told me. They've had a couple of unmarked cars driving by since it happened.

I ain't too worried. This actually tells me that I am probably not being specifically targeted, they have an apparent internal conflict that has them distracted, LE attention to this area has been increased, they are not well armed or organized, and their "optempo" (or whatever the gang equivalent is) has been disrupted.

Yeah, but you still could easily end up getting caught in the middle of a fight between these yahoos, or witnessing something they don't want reported to the police.  Say you happen to walk out your door just as one of them shoots the other.  That makes you a target too.  Not trying to be pessimistic, and it's good the police are disrupting them.  Just stay alert and stay safe.  I would hate to read about you in the news.
