Had a letter from the NFA branch waiting today!
« on: June 14, 2012, 08:19:59 PM »
...opened it with heart pounding, thinking my stamps were finally here after 6 months.  No luck.  Application returned to me because my trust documents reference a Schedule B and C but I didn't include them since there was nothing on them. >:D  The funny thing is, the stamp I got last year used the exact same trust documents and I didn't send in Schedule B or C then either.  Just goes to show you how much consistency there is.

At least that means the examiner finally got to my forms.  From what I hear if they're sent back to you for problems they usually get turned back around pretty fast.  Here's hoping.

Two suppressors.  I like to tinker with stuff so I decided to build my own.

ahh nice. When you said the forms came to you, I assumed Form 1s but forgot about those talented enough to make a suppressor.

I am about a month and a half behind you. I am using the same brand of trust software but its an older version. I am not sure if there is any mention of a schedule B and C. I will have to look, not that if there is anything I can do about it if there is.  ::) It will be interesting to see how it goes for you on the turnaround as its very possible I may be in the same boat. Darn good thing I was just doing this because of the present state of political uncertainty.

On mine it mentions B&C include any property that my wife or I owned separately before the trust was formed.  Both schedules just say "No property in trust".  It's funny because I've heard some people on the interwebs (even lawyers) say you don't need to send in any of your schedules, even Schedule A.  Just goes to show that there is no consistency.  I do need to have a lawyer take a look at mine now that I'm acquiring more stamps.  It's a revocable living trust so it can always be amended.

On the bright side I did a little searching and it seems when forms are returned they generally take about 10 days to turn around and get the stamps, so I'm close!  Better finish up that steady rest I've been building for the lathe.

Ray - Don't wait for them to send your forms back to you unstamped.  Call the NFA branch at 304-616-4500.  Politely ask if you can check on the status of your Form 1 (or Form 4).  They'll ask you for the S/N of your item and your trust name.  Then they'll tell you if the status is: approved (you just have to wait for the stamps to arrive in the mail), pending (assigned to an examiner), or error status (if there is a problem with the trust or Form).  If they tell you there's an error, ask them what kind of error is noted. And if they tell you that you're missing a schedule(s), then ask the name of the examiner and if you can fax the schedules directly to the examiner's attention.  The NFA branch will give you the fax number (304-616-4501), then you can fax your Schedules to the examiner's attention with an explanation of accidentally omitting the trust schedules with your Form 1 (or Form 4).  If there is no property in the missing schedules, then just state on the schedule by saying "No schedule property". That's worked with Examiner Dudash for at least three trusts that had missing schedules and the items went approved within a week of sending the faxes.  Good luck!

Thanks Wesley! I made the call and the very nice lady told me that I was pending. ;D Nice to know where things are at. Took a total of about three minutes.

Ray, now you're going to need a suppressor to quiet down those loudmouth shorty AK's.

Had three things in the mailbox today.  The mailman probably was wondering what's going on...

I'm machining my own baffles out of bar stock.  The .22 will have K-baffles made out of aircraft aluminum, except for the blast baffle which will be 303 stainless.  The .308 will have stepped cones all machined out of 303.

I have no idea how long this will take.  Going off of my skill level, I'm guessing a long time.
