Handguns and crossing state lines...
RobertH:
i have a coworker who lived in Iowa, but he has moved to NE (of course) and he has a handgun in Iowa at his parent's place. the handgun was given to him by his father for Christmas. he is going to get his purchase permit this week and he already has a NE driver's license. Can he legally possess his handgun in NE without going through an FFL? the handgun is registered in Iowa, so would he have to do anything with that?
ETA: it isn't registered, its transferred... confusion of terms.
lneuke:
Iowa has a handgun registry?
RobertH:
haha...my coworker he told me registered, but he meant transferred. i will educate him. so, no on the registering.
AAllen:
The only issue would be if he is inOmaha he needs to take it in and register it. Otherwise just transport unloaded and cased away from the driver (trunk or back of vehicle).
RobertH:
he lives in Lincoln.... i guess something else i forgot to add.
