Good Grief
« on: August 28, 2012, 07:55:08 PM »
http://www.1011now.com/home/headlines/Grand-Island-Preschooler-Forbidden-Sign-Language-for-His-Own-Name-167394325.html

Absurd... Just absurd:

Quote
"He's deaf, and his name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy," explained Hunter's father, Brian Spanjer.

Grand Island's "Weapons in Schools" Board Policy 8470 forbids "any instrument...that looks like a weapon," But a three year-old's hands?

"Anybody that I have talked to thinks this is absolutely ridiculous. This is not threatening in any way," said Hunter's grandmother Janet Logue.

This is getting A LOT of attention in the Gun-Blog-osphere. Will be interesting how long before the school is forced to change their mind at the hands of THE PEOPLE!

You know it's bad when even liberals on facebook are decrying it.

Just saw the news. The G.I. Public Schools has backed way off after much support for the child and his family in the form of phone calls.

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.   J. F. K.

Good grief is right.  How ridiculous is this??  I don't even know what to say.  They had a link below that article to an updated one.  The Grand Island School district says they have received hundreds of angry phone calls, emails, and even a few death threats.  Hmm.... and they are wondering why??

It's great to see what happens when the people stand up for the little guy!

Q: Why would they do this?

A: Because they thought they could.
The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.

This is a good example of what can happen when folks come together and push toward a common goal.  There is a lot of this kind of stupidity floating around out there, if we see a news story about something like this (please keep it kind of sort of firearms, and Nebraska, related) put a posting up in hear, and share to face book.

We can spread the word, you guess would be amazed at how many and who follows what is going on around here, and it can and will cause the grass roots type movement we had here that helped Hunter.

You folks are the real power behind the NFOA, NRA, whomever you want to list off.  You are the Gun Lobby.

Tom Gresham (of Tom Gresham's GunTalk) has his "No Shrug Policy":  If you see or hear something that is not right, don't just shrug and mutter to yourself that this is just another uninformed idiot or "that is just the way it is" ..... say something.  Correct the mis-statements, inform the ignorant, and protest entrenched stupidity such as this case.  Then tell a friend. Link it.  If you just shrug and go on about your business (your other business, because we are gun owners, the 2nd Amendment IS OUR BUSINESS), then that will be "just the way it is" .
