Pistol grip shotgun
« on: October 31, 2012, 11:14:34 PM »
Think I'm going to get an 870 later this week. For pistol grip shotguns I know they are considered different at the time of purchase (21 years old), but does changing a shotgun with a buttstock to a pistol grip somehow change what the gun is classified as? I know they need 18" barrel and minimum 26" length to avoid SBS classification. I'm fairly certain there is no issue with putting a pistol grip on it but I would just like to be sure. Thanks

I picked up an 18.5" barreled Mossy 500A with pistol grip only cause I've got tiny doorways in the house.  Nothing fancy required to buy one.

Fit it with a nice pistol grip only knoxx stock to help with the recoil on them 3" magnum 15 pellet buckshot shells tho :).

I believe the only difference comes if you try cut the barrel down.  See the super shorty (commercially cut down shotty requiring only the $5 stamp) if ya want details.

hoppe's #9 is not the end all be all woman catching pheramone people make it out to be ... cause i smell of it 2 or 3 times a week but remain single  >:D

Factory pistol gripped shotgun, can not be bought across state lines or by those under 21 from  a dealer, private sales are OK.

On form 4473 they are not a long gun, they are not a handgun they are an other.

An other can be configured into a NFA regulated weapon called an Any Other Weapon.

A shotgun can not be configured into an AOW but would become Short Shotgun.

So you can put a pistol grip on a shotgun, and it is still a shotgun.
Machinegun owners blow thier load with one pull of the trigger

Thanks David that's what I was looking for. Now that I think about it more, it makes more sense.
