I had a coupon for a Marlin 795 for $139.99 that is good until 11/15. Figured I would go in today to grab one if they had any still in stock. My lucky day, they had one! I fill out the 4473, no problem, am told they have to call it in to NICS, I offer my conceal carry permit. I am told that they don't honor anything other than the NICS check, even if it is a cop in uniform buying a gun. Well, I have nothing to fear so I wait, and I wait, and I wait some more. Next a manager comes and tells the clerk that no matter what happens, I can't leave with the gun because the only person there to sign them out is gone. I ask what the deal is and I am told to wait some more so they can fax some forms to the home office. I have been there nearly an hour waiting now when this manager comes back and says that the home office needs my 4473 faxed back to them so that they can approve my taking the gun home with me today. While waiting for a phone call to come back from whoever looked over my 4473 again, I ask for my drivers license back before they lose it. I am told that I can not have it back until they get word from the home office. I finally get approved by someone somewhere so I think that the wait is over. No, I have to wait for the clerk to escort me and the gun to the front cash register where there are close to 10 people in each line. I was there nearly 1 1/2 hours to buy a $139 gun.
Long story short, they don't care about the legal laws of the state and the Federal government. They don't care about the inconvenience of the customer, and they don't care if people just get mad because you can't leave until you get your license back.
I may go back, but it won't be for a gun, and it will have to be a sale worth spending the time in line for.
