Rookie needs info on selling firearm
tackle8:
I am a rookie and have never sold or traded a firearm. I am unable to find info on privately selling a firearm. I have one I am interested in selling or trading. Any info would be appreciated on how to sell it legally.
Thanks.

Person to person transfers for handguns require that the receiver has a valid Nebraska Handgun Purchase Permit, or Concealed Handgun Permit. It is not required for rifles or shotguns, but is still a good idea.
I would recommend retaining a copy the receiver's permit and photo ID, as well as a receipt of sale with the make/model/SN (does not have to be anything formal), to absolve yourself from any criminal charges, and avoid liability in the extremely unlikely event the weapon becomes an instrument of crime.

Steve, since this is your 1st sell,it's the law the seller has to donate the firearm to me. In trade, I'll brief you on the proper way to sell a firearm. Other people on this board will try to sway your thoughts. Don't listen to them. :D
