Selling a recent purchase
bigmountainskiercfg:
I had a question maybe someone wiser can shed some light on. I bought 3 guns all the same model as an investment as i got a screaming deal on them. I took one out shooting with a couple buddies plinking at cans. Long story short the want to get something similar to mine? What are the rules on selling a rifle when you have only had it a few days? I would guess they would want new the new ones that haven't been shot? I've only sold used rifles before and I'm don't want to break any laws ????

As long as your friends can legally own the rifles you are selling them, the amount of time you owned them before selling them shouldn't matter. I don't remember reading anything about how long a gun has to sit in your possession.
If you're worried about it being seen as a straw purchase, this situation wouldn't fall under that term as long as you confirm that the purchasers are allowed to own the firearms. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to write up a receipt and ask them both to get a handgun purchase permit from the sheriff. That way you can be sure they pass a background check. Bedsides, what's a little background check between friends, right? :)

Straw purchases that's the term I couldn't remember, thanks. I know one of them can buy a gun for sure as he bought a nice shotgun just a little bit ago. Would you go through an FFL to e safe? Had the guns 3 days is all. I've known them for quite some time. Stand up guys in dental school that have to pass a back ground check to stay enrolled.
FarmerRick:
No reason not to sell the guns to them as long as they are not a prohibited person. Ten minutes or ten years after you bought the guns, doesn't matter.
Any other paperwork or whatever is your choice, but is not required at all.

Using an FFL is optional. The FFL will most certainly perform a background check.
