College student shot in fast-food drive-through
« on: December 06, 2012, 07:30:18 AM »
A college student is recovering after being shot in the face while in a Burger King drive-through because he refused to give up his car to a would-be thief.

Omaha police say 21-year-old Alexander Dike was shot shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday while at a restaurant in central Omaha near 72nd and Grover streets.

Dike told police that a man with a gun approached his car while he was in the drive-through and demanded that Dike get out of the car.

Instead of complying, Dike instead rolled up his window and then heard gunshots.

Goes directly to the intelligence of the shooter and his buddy......
The car/driver they want to jack are in a 'drive through'.
There are cars in line in front of him.
There are cars in line behind him....
What the heck are they going to do....
Continue through the line and pick up the guys order at the window?

Very difficult situation.  He probably panicked and hoped that by rolling up the window the bad guys would go on to another car - which the bad guys would probably normally do.  But these bad guys are most likely experienced in shooting people since the shooter didn't hesitate to shoot at the driver.  They probably wanted the vehicle to use as a getaway vehicle or use in a drive by.

Now, if Dike had a CHP and was able to shoot the gunman, then it would be a good shoot.  You have a man pointing a gun at you  are in imminent danger while you are exposed and nowhere to go.

Its getting bad out there.  You're not even safe in your vehicle in line to go through the drive through.

I'd have been shot while contemplating whether the court would try and turn the bad guy into the victim. Or maybe that they decided I should have given up my property and wasn’t really afraid for my life…or…

I'm just kidding. You'd be reading the news about two less thugs.
