NE/MN CCW Class?
« on: November 27, 2012, 01:07:02 PM »
Does anyone here offer or know of an NE/MN joint CCW class?  I recently became a Nebraska resident so my MN permit is no longer valid here.  NE permits are not recognized by MN and my MN permit (which I need to keep) needs to be renewed in June, so I am hoping to kill two birds with one stone.

Thanks.

phorvick does Nebraska Classes and is also a MN instructor.  I have not seen any classes listed from him in a while but you could try sending him a note and see what he has to say.

Are you saying you want a NE resident and a MN non-resident?

I think what you want is a NE and UT permit - that will allow you to carry in MN - as well as a few others. I think most instructors here do NE+UT.

You can do one of two things:

- Go through the Nebraska Class with an instructor that is offering the Utah add-on.

- Get your Minnesota non-resident permit.  I don't know much about the MN permit other than they require you to apply in person and they do offer non-resident permits.

The Florida and Arizona suggestions are always good options, but it appears that Minnesota does not currently honor either of those.  They are still honoring the Utah permit.

I didn't catch what part of Nebraska you are in.  Let us know and we can suggest an instructor that offers Utah as an add-on.  Chris Zeeb is highly recommended if you are near Lincoln or Syracuse.

Nebraska / Utah classes here:   www.NebraskaConcealedCarry.com

This will get you coverage in MN if that is what you are after.

Thanks

Thanks for all the fast and informative replies.

Basically, I want to be able to carry in MN--I have family there and visit a couple of times a year.

I hadn't considered the UT permit, but that's a nice option, since as mentioned above, MN requires an inconvenient in-person application.  Besides, it appears that the Utah permit application fee is actually less than the MN renewal cost would be.  =)

I'm in Lincoln, by the way.

Thanks again

Edited to add: Does anyone offer classes on Sundays?  I'm usually a bit tied up on Saturdays.

Chris,
I am looking for  a CCW class to take ASAP, but Jan 12th seems to be the soonest one you will be offering.
Also, where would you do the live fire training?
