Raccoon pelt
« on: December 08, 2012, 05:38:33 PM »
I was thinking of having a raccoon hat made?  Do you know where one would start or about how much it cost do that?  What about just to have it as a pelt to lay over my gun table?

are you wanting the skins already tanned or did you want to start from carcass?

ETA:  trapperman.com's archive has a few threads on how to make them from tanned skins.  also, people are selling them on that site.  i would check it out.

Do you need a Fur Harvest permit?  I'm not sure.

if its tanned, then i don't think so.  i think the law says or mentions "raw" pelts.  i'd ask/call Sam Wilson @ the NE G&P.

You can buy a coonskin hat on eBay with or without eyes. $50-100.
