Proposed U.S. Senate rule changes?
(1/1)
WESchultz:
This proposed U.S. Senate rule change is an issue we need to be aware of, and something we need to make sure doesn't happen. Senator Johanns is correct on this issue.
From Senator Johanns e-Update
Senator Johanns has received hundreds of messages from Nebraskans urging Congress to do a better job of working together. Unfortunately a change in Senate rules currently being considered would have the opposite effect. It would allow one side – whichever happens to have the majority – to run roughshod over the other. It would eliminate the incentive brilliantly established by our Founding Fathers to allow both sides to have a voice in the debate and to find solutions for our country.
Changing Senate rules could impact all Americans, particularly those who live in rural states like Nebraska. Earlier today, he spoke on the Senate floor about the impact these changes could have.

We should deal with any changes to Senate rules in a thoughtful, careful way. Rest assured Senator Johanns will continue to encourage his colleagues in the Senate to uphold the honored traditions and rules of the Senate, so that we are forced to find common ground instead of empowering one side or the other to dictate every outcome.

I was speaking with a co-worker and he stated that every other country which has gone down the path that the US is currently traversing has ended up with a large government and socialist system. Basically he didn't say it as nice as Dan. He said "We are F'd! Collect your AR's and stockpile ammo. I hope it doesn't come to that, but we can at least be ready". These are possibly not statements that most of the NFOA'ers would disagree with, but the really interesting thing to me is that this guy was born and raised in Germany. He spoke of how his father pays +50% on income taxes, and then who knows how much more in other taxes such as gasoline which is ridiculously high because the government taxes it so heavily.
He is not the only European I have heard this from. If they came here to get away from that system, then why doesn't the rest of the nation take note? The problem is that the brainiacs like Piers Morgan are the ones that get national face time.

Dan W:
The US Senate has not even pretended to follow any type of decorum or rules or even laws in the last 6 years and the people of this country voted to give them even more power.
We are way beyond speeches making a difference now...we need to get down and dirty, and to hell with the political consequences or we are going to lose our freedom.

This conversation reminds me of an article I read recently, basically it said the revolution has already started for us to reclaim our country. There just has not been any shots fired yet. Look at the three strikes on April 19th, 1775, and there were many other things that predates that (Boston Tea Party as an example).
