NRA Lifetime Membership. Need Lifetime Member for a Sponsor.

I would like to upgrade to a lifetime membership while it is on sale. But I neeed a sponsor who is already a lifetime member. If anyone would be willing to sponsor me I would greatly appreciate it.

Seen this around several times, no personal experience as to whether or not it works:

The NRA is currently offering a life membership right now for only $300 with no sponsor needed! They are only doing this until the end of the month and then it will go back up to $1000 for a life membership. You don't need another life member to sponsor you or anything, just call 1-888-678-7894-there was NO wait.

I actually called the NRA yesterday to determine whether this was a scam. This is a special offer by Tom Gresham at Gun Talk. He is an NRA life member, and the phone number is one of his numbers.
