Someone better call Ashford!

Weird that they don't describe it as an AR-15.  It's possible it was not one, but I imagine it was.

Someone just doing laundry.....Maybe not, since it was a LEO, but a full auto AR without papers?....Cha Ching!  I prefer to give LEO the benefit of the doubt, actually.  The thieves will probably get busted on this one as you cannot move that gun without red flags (if it is full auto)

OPD Officers have to purchase their own patrol rifles. I dont know anyone personally that would go to the expense of buying a full auto, and per SOP, I dont think it is even an option. SWAT Officers are issued full auto Colts, but I have never seen one just laying in the back of a vehicle. The guys I work with all have locking slide out drawers to secure them.

We recently had an employees car at The Bullet Hole broken into right in the middle of the day. Both side windows broken out, they also went through the trunk, looking for guns we presume. Only property taken was a fixed blade knife.

"The thief or thieves also managed to get away with approximately 30 rounds of ammunition for the rifle"

30 round magazine ...... AR or AK, betcha.....

Somebody ask Ashford if there is a LEO  exception for civil penalties (or criminal penalties!) for leaving a gun where minors can steal it ..... he'll be bringing that up in the Judiciary Committee today, right?
The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.

According to Weird Harold it was a Rock River:

http://www.omaha.com/article/20130123/NEWS/130129908/1694#rifle-ammo-stolen-from-omaha-police-officer-s-suv

Sounds like an AR to me.

I'm almost certain that if mine was stolen the story would include the words "AR15", "high capacity", "assault weapon", and probably "negligent".

i thought the same thing when I read the OWH article.   No big deal, they just stole a little ole .223 rifle and some ammo.

We all know exactly what it would be called if a civilian had it stolen.

This is an example of why I cancelled cable television. Everything has an agenda behind it, it seems.

"The thief or thieves also managed to get away with approximately 30 rounds of ammunition for the rifle"

That is a big ol LOL right there.  Those "approximately 30 rounds" wouldnt have been conveniently all held in one easily accessable magazine, would they?

p.s. - Whoops, I forgot to use the technical media term of "clip"...

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.  I carry a lot of ammo because I cant run very fast.

I have to admit that I first saw the title of this thread this morning before I had coffee. I was expecting to see a picture of an evil kitten wielding an AK and mowing down puppies.

This proves my point, only military and police officers should own these guns.
