My First 1911!
« on: January 25, 2013, 11:18:55 AM »

Always been a fan of plain looking 1911's with bluing or parkerized finishes but this one is just dead gorgeous imo. Too bad nobody has the Lee 4 die set available so I will have to wait to make my loads before I can take her out...

Got it from Cabela's and originally looking for just the dies since we didn't have this in stock 2 days ago when I checked. Might have to settle on the 3 die set, I just prefer crimping and seating in different steps. Another issue is finding cast lead bullets too... Found a few places with them in stock but they are more expensive than I would like.

Wow, you really went all out for your first one.  Nice gun.

I've been happy with Missouri Bullet Co for cast bullets, but I've recently started casting my own.  A Lee 20lb bottom pour pot and 6 cavity mold will pay for themselves pretty fast, and you don't have to worry about backorders.

It's much nicer than my first 1911!

Nice gun!
The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.

If you are on the east side of the state Cabela's has the commander one. Wasn't too impressed with the frame to slide fit though.
