Thinking about starting an AR build and would like suggestions on lowers to start the build. Not sure yet if I am going to do a .223 or .308. Leaning towards the .308 as i already have a .223. :-\

At about $80 + shipping ($7?), I don't think you could go wrong with a Palmettos State Armory.  There are lots of good lowers out there for a little more money, but I think PSA is a pretty good deal.  Of course I have only built one lower...and it was a PSA.  I liked the product and service so much, I ordered a matching PSA upper to go with it.

What he said. I actually ordered one of these a year ago and didn't realize I had to be 21 to buy it. Very upsetting to say the least. Unfortunately with the election coming up they probably won't go on sale for $50 like they do several times a year.

All mine are RRA, but they were the flavor of the month back then

My PSA is cool because it has cannons on the magwell.  I like my Spikes better because it has a spider.  Scares the meth heads.

Pretty much all of them come from the same few manufacturers.  I say pick one that fits your budget and has a rollmark you like.  Just stay away from Blackthorne/Hesse/Vulcan.  Everything else is good to go.

From what I hear, Palmetto is working on introducing a DPMS-pattern .308 AR sometime in April.

Those are cannons?! I thought they were just two sausages.

In time Robert, in time. I may just start with a .223 and do the .308 next. Hope to find some items at the Hastings show next weekend.

AGP Arms in AZ also makes a nice lower, with an American flag CNC'd into the front of the mag well. It also has a built in trigger creep adjuster, separate from the pistol grip mount hole. I have one of these and two PSA's - Nothing bad to say about either manufacturer.

Thanks Buck, I like that one. Added them to my AR bookmarks. Thanks to everyone for your input. Now all I need to do is find one that is in-stock and part with some cash. Next we will discuss LPK's and stock options.

You are quite welcome. If you plan on doing any accurate shooting get a LPK minus the fire control group. Go to Joe Bob outfitters web site and order a the LPK that has the RRA 2 stage trigger national match trigger for $129.95. If you are or were in the military or LEO you get a 5% discount using code THANKYOU as well as free shipping on orders over $90 so you would pay $123.45 shipped. Seeing how a Stag LPK would cost about $55 and a RRA 2 stage NM trigger would be $100-$125 by it's self, this is an excellent deal! Joe Bob's in in Kansas and shipping is very fast, usually a day or two. Also put in the comments section when ordering that you would like a free T-shirt and the size and he will send you a cool Joe Bob's tee shirt with your order.

As for the lower, call AGP and find out when their next run will be - mine took 2 weeks when it was shown as sold out on the website.

The lower is on it's way, decided on an LPK. Think I will go with a 16" or possibly 18" 1in7 twist A3 flat top (upper and barrel combo). Still trying to find one i like that I can afford. Plan to go with a free floating hand guard. Not to much thought on an adjustable stock yet, maybe one will find me.

Didn't take 365 days, but real close. Received my YHM upper Friday. Only 54 days of backorder. Well worth the wait. Looks great. Can't wait to get out and shoot it.
