what do with about stolen guns?

(1/1)

RobertH:
so lets say i have some guns stolen what do i do?  who do i notify?  notify police, pawn shops, gun stores, who else?

i don't have anything stolen, but to me its a BIG "what if" situtation.  its bound to happen.

any personal experiences?

Randy:
I can not improve on who to notify your list looks good.

Myself I photograph all of my firearms individually and create a document with all vital individual firearm information.
I than place both the photographs and individual information on a CD?DVD Disk for prosperity with separate copies going to a close relative and or friend plus one copy in my safe deposit box. Will make it easier to give to Police and Ins. but still hurts I am sure. As I type this it reminds me the need to do the same for my electronics and tools.

Definitely pics of guns (preferably serial numbers as well) and documented serial numbers.  Report as soon as possible, as you never know who's gonna knock off a 7-11 with your registered firearm.  Additionally, keep detailed records of your purchases and sales of firearms as well, as a firearm you sold could potentially be involved in a crime.

It doesn't hurt to copy off pics and serial numbers and distribute to pawn shops, gun stores etc.

Chris Z:
If it happens, post in every forum you can for gun owners to be on the lookout for them
