What my 11 year old said tonight
« on: February 14, 2013, 08:21:04 PM »
It's sad to hear my 11 year old son tell me that if they ban guns theres going to be more crime and more killings cause the bad guys will have guns and we the law abiding will not have the protection we need.  He also went on to say that if that ever happens more people will be out of jobs.  My boy is pretty wise he's a prepper has all the goodies like a gas mask, ammo boxes to store stuff in, a rucksack, a Kabar knife, a grappling hook to climb with, he even likes the MRE's.  He asked us for all this stuff for chrismas and didn't want any toys or games or such.  He wants his first rifle to be a Henry rifle cause he likes the looks of it.  He is so worried that the government will take way our rights and I try and tell him he doesn't have to worry one bit that there are people like this association that will not let that happen.  He's a pretty good kid and is one of the most resectful kids I've ever met even though he's my son I'm pretty proud that he has the manners and helps anyone that needs it.

So what do you tell your kids when they are upset at the government like this?

Yeah I know right LOL.  This kid of mine is pretty unique.  My husband hauls cars for a living on a big rig so the trailer has all kinds of hydraulics on it and if you don't know what your doing then you can smash a car my 11 year old know how to do all the hydraulics and how to chain the cars down to the trailer while his dad is going into the auction to get another car he makes sure they are all tied down and the next deck is ready for my husband to drive them up.  He's been doing since he was 6 and even today other car haulers come up and are pretty impressed that Steven knows what he's doing.  My other 3 boys really don't have the patience of even trying to learn how to do that.  Steven does get paid pretty good for helping his dad and he's even bought himself playstations, Ipods and other stuff cause he makes a goal on what he wants.

LOL he would love that he'd be so happy we'd have to find a gun range somewhere to shoot.  Unfornately there isn't one near McCook that I know of.

Actually I think he has worn it to school but the school knows how steven is which is very polite, nice, helpful and gentle.  He also wears his jacket all the time so maybe that's how he's gotten away with it.

My daughter was driving with me the other day when the news came on the radio, talking about Obama's drone program.  She asked me what they were talking about, and I told her the President has claimed the right to kill American citizens he considers to be terrorists.

Daughter:  "He can't do that!  He has to have evidence, and go to court!  That's wrong!"

Me:  "Well, you understand better than the President does."

Daughter:  "Yeah, and I'm only 9!"

Yeah I heard the same thing instead of banning black scary guns we need to ban black scary presidents.  Maybe some of our kids need to go to Washington to give their view I think it would help.

These kids are wise beyond their years.  Good for you and them..

What you tell them is to get and stay involved.  Tell them to vote, be proactive and not just let it go.

I think we have all tried to impart these truths to our kids.  Some get it sooner and with more understanding than others.  That's some good parenting there.

I agree Fritz wholeheartedly to teach kids about things from a very young age in a way they understand and go from there.  Kids are smart I remember my mom telling me that they were kept in the dark about a lot of things anymore you just can't they hear it on the tv or from someone else so you just have to explain to them and I really hate keeping them in the dark.  Better be truthful than to let them find out on their own.
