BELLEVUE, WA – A new video obtained by the Citizens Committee for the Right to keep and Bear Arms destroys the myth surrounding so-called “high capacity magazines” by proving that determined shooters using smaller capacity magazines can fire just as fast, and in some cases even faster despite having to reload.

The startling video demonstration, conducted under the supervision of Boone County, Ind. Sheriff Ken Campbell and funded by ArmaLite, “throws cold water on anti-gunners who argue that magazine limitations are necessary to prevent mass shootings,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. “We are all indebted to ArmaLite for this informative effort.”

“Under Sheriff Campbell’s supervision,” he explained, “two shooters – an experienced man and a novice female – are able to repeatedly fire 30-round shot strings at three targets, using 15-, ten- and six-round magazines, all in under 30 seconds.”

The male demonstrator fired 30 rounds from a pistol, first with two 15-round magazines, in 20.64 seconds, then with three ten-rounders in 18.05 seconds and finally with five six-round magazines in 21.45 seconds. The woman fired the same magazine sequence, with two 15-round magazines in 22.9 seconds, three ten-rounders in 25.51 seconds and the final five six-round magazines in 26.93 seconds.

In addition, the man then fires 20 rounds from an AR-15 rifle using a single magazine, in 12.16 seconds. He then fired 20 rounds using two ten-round magazines in less time, 10.73 seconds!

“Imposing magazine capacity limits creates a horribly false sense of security,” Gottlieb observed. “This video puts the lie to this politically-motivated disarmament strategy.”

Sheriff Campbell notes in the video that, “One of the reasons that the magazine restrictions are being proposed is the perception that if the active shooter has fewer bullets in magazines he will have to reload sooner and this will create an opportunity for someone to tackle him during the reload.”

In a demonstration, that notion is also proven false.

“Magazine capacity limits offer no panacea to the rare mass shootings that have alarmed the country,” Gottlieb said. “It is time to stop this nonsense and expose magazine limits as the monumental fraud they are.”

Gottlieb urged firearms owners to share this important video demonstration with state and federal lawmakers.

My Nano is a  6+1.    A magazine restriction  of 10 rounds  wouldn't affect my ccw  weapon but that video did inspire me  to  carry more  than one spare magazine.    Five would  be a good number.  That would give me 31 rounds.

I have a lot of practicing to do to get as fast as that guy. I have seen a lot faster on Utube but this looked plenty quick. I had better get my barrel blocker out and get to practicing.

The thing is, magazine capacity is irrelevant when a madman is attacking unarmed victims.  Even if he sucks at reloads it might take 5 seconds to swap mags.  That's not enough time for an unarmed victim to react.  He will just carry more mags like the Columbine and VA Tech killers did.  If you are being attacked by an armed assailant, though, 5 seconds is an eternity and could be the difference between life and death.

Unfortunately the antigun mindset doesnt care about facts.  I actually had someone tell me I don't "need" a "high capacity clip" to defend myself because the bad guy would probably only have a screwdriver.  He also told me that police don't use hi caps.  That's the kind of mentality we are up against, folks.  Logic and facts mean nothing to them.  Emotion is everything.

I would have liked to see how quickly Jim could reload a revolver with a speedloader.
I've never heard the term New York reload.
All in all an interesting video.

Sure looked like Jim was sandbagging both times with the highest round mags early on.

It's a straw man argument anyways, but I'd like to see the statistics on round 11 - 30 on a yearly basis.  I bet it's a touch less than drunk driving fatalities.  Priorities, priorities...  (And Chris C is right, Jimmy was laying off at the start.  He could have hosed those targets down in 15 seconds)
You can hope in one hand and crap in the other, then see which one fills up first.

Here is what a pro can do with a pistol in 12 seconds:

Talk about hitting nail on the head.

My only possible concern is it could quite possibly be a bit more concise... but otherwise, love it.

I am not so sure this works for pro-gun.  If people are emotionally scared of firearms, then showing them that even 6 round mags can be fired quickly doesn't do much to make them feel better.

Just watched the Feinstien Judiciary Committee on Assault Weapons Ban. Even though the ban list is largely rifles, terms like semi-automatic and detachable magazine are defining features. Last I looked, a pistol is a semi-automatic firearm with a detachable magazine.  Anti-gun and non-gun people do not know or want to know the difference. I have a 1911 and 92fs which both fit the "military style" criteria.

Better than fanning the fire is to just stand solid on no change. No bans of any kind. The government has to quit taking away rights of law-abiding citizens. Rights should not be converted into privileges.  We can bring in the pro-ban people if we make them realize that an AWB is simple a smoke screen for government money to state law enforcement or what ever else they can stuff into a AWB bill. States are struggling with money and an AWB would contain a lot of law enforcement money if a state jumps on the agenda bandwagon. We should all be appalled that our government brings up emotional subjects, times them on tragedy just to distribute federal tax money. We are being played and most people don't realize what politicians will do to get ahold of money.

To paraphrase someone else:

I will not sacrifice [our rights]. We've made too many compromises already, too many retreats. They invade our space, and we fall back. They [dismantle] entire [liberties], and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far and no further!

*cough*

OK....then the next line....
And I will make them pay for what they've done!

The "done" has already occured.

We need a collition effort to push a bill that completely overshadows the anti-gun proposals. Maybe we can't prevent a pork-fest. Instead let them have what they want, but not only remove any threat of gun ban but instead add in as much pro-gun benefit as possible. A lot of people will come on board with mental health care funding, school security measures, funding for police departments (except anti-gun states...they pay). Make the whole gun-ban people sorry that they even brought things up. They ultimately get what they want, but totally pay on the ban/limit/registration thing with that part going totally opposite and guarantee more and extended gun rights.
