I got this email from an Obama elist:
Friend --
We're taking some big steps forward in the effort to reduce gun violence.
Late last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid introduced a bill to institute universal background checks on gun sales, strengthen gun trafficking laws, and make our schools safer.
This is our chance to band together and push forward on legislation that will make a difference. Join the team that will fight until it's the law.
Right now, while Congress is on recess, opponents of this common-sense legislation -- like the powerful gun lobby -- are hoping to ramp up their fight, and scare reasonable members of Congress into voting against this reform.
That's why we can't sit back.
Volunteers around the country are holding events as part of a national Day of Action to make sure Congress knows that we're ready to take real, meaningful action to reduce gun violence. More than 150,000 OFA supporters have already signed up to take action on this issue -- and more folks are getting involved every day.
The question is: Will you be one of them?
Add your name today to join our fight to reduce gun violence:

More to come. For now, thanks.

It looks like they are going to try an "end run" and while the legislators are at home on recess they'll be preparing to apply strong pressure for them to vote against their oath of office and the Constitution.
