Wayne LaPierre speaks at CPAC

Quote
“I didn’t come here to be popular; I came here to stand for what I believe is true.” As for the elitists in the mainstream media and the nation’s capital: “Let them be damned,”

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.   J. F. K.

I watched it, or much of it.  It struck me as an old white republican reciting the same old song that lost the last several elections.

Did I miss something by not watching all of it?

I am a NRA supporter, Life member, yda yda yda, but we have our backs up against the wall, and state by state, the second amendment is being taken apart one new law passing after another.

1968, the brady bill, assault weapons bills, and on and on and on.

The time for preaching to the choir is long past.   It is roll up our sleeves and take back Washington.

To have 100 millions gun owners, and bare shelves at every gun store across America, and only have 4 plus million NRA members, and a few 100,000 GOA members, is foolish, stupid, and terminal.

If you own a gun, and you own ammo, and you love your country, the time to join NRA is long past.  The **** is hitting the fan, and everyone had better wake up.

**** is ****, and it is coming to a fan near you.

You've obviously bought into the Democratic/Left wing world view, whether knowingly or not, when you start off your assessment by framing him as an Old White Republican reciting the "same old song."

One of the hallmarks of individual liberty is that we are judged on our own words and actions and not by those of the group we belong to.  Regardless of his age, race, or party, we should judge him on the merits of what he says.  Would the the value of his ideas be different if he were a young minority Democrat?

As for the "same old song," if the song sings of truth, then perhaps there's a reason it's been around a while.

Marketing is an important facet of politics, I would agree.  That said, groups like CPAC are a well-established venue to promote Conservative ideas.  It's not the only place to do it, but it's a damned good one.

CPAC is also a controlled venue which seems to be the only way to avoid the near constant disruptions the Left stages.  While quick to lecture people on what is acceptable behavior, they rarely hesitate to set aside accepted social behavior when confronted with views not in line with their own.

I think part of the problem conservatives are having is our tendancy to "fort up" while the Left sets the street on fire.  The whole CPAC convention may get a minute or two coverage on news, while a-holes like Dorner or Occupy pukes have running updates 24-7.  What are the proper tactics to use against the fear, bribery, misinformation and disruption being used against us?  Force is what they want to justify their arguements, seclusion(forting up) allows them to continue unabated, and speaking the truth doesn't seem to be enough when their "truth" comes with free sandwich.

Maybe I'm wandering a bit, but since I first signed on and with the increasing numbers joining daily I know there are many more out there with like-minded views.  It just seems like there should be..more to this?  It's probably a question better set to the BOD to address, but for as wide as this forum community extends, the majority of it could be wiped out with the flick of a switch. Maybe more face-to-face events and street-level recognition efforts are needed?
