The master has failed more than the beginner has even tried.

CCW 201?
"It is better to avoid than to run; better to run than to de-escalate; better to de-escalate than to fight; better to fight than to die. The very essence of self-defense is a thin list of things that might get you out alive when you are already screwed." – Rory Miller

CCW 201?

I'm working on it!  Really!  [sigh]  We have a LOT of stuff going on---so what I'm probably going to do is pick some prospective dates, and send them out to the folks who have gone through CCW-101 who said they were interested in the CCW-201 class, and try to find a date that everyone can attend.

I'll let you know now---it'll likely be in June, July, or August.  March, April, and May are already booked up.

In other notes---we've done a little restructuring of classes.  First off:  I've caved to marketing pressure and changed the name of the Fundamentals class to "Shooting Skills."  The material hasn't changed---but hopefully I won't hear any more that famous phrase, "No, I'm looking for an advanced class."

{sigh}  Shooting Skills IS an advanced class.  It is also fundamental to good shooting.  So---since putting "Fundamentals" in the name of the class seems to strike at people's ego, I've renamed it "Shooting Skills."  I don't like it, but I'm tired of arguing about it.

Bleh.

We've also ADDED a class.  There has been a LOT of requests from us to teach a Handgun Techniques class, for people who have attended a Intro class somewhere, have bought a gun, and done some bullseye/target shooting practice---and want to learn the techniques necessary for actual practical applications.  You know, like self-defense.

So:  Handgun Technique
The purpose of the HT class is to teach people good, solid technique for draws, reloads, and fundamentals (grip, stance, trigger control, etc) in the format of practical, self-defense shooting.

...in other words, you've gotten a gun and can handle it safely.  You can shoot paper circles on a lane, slowfire.  And now---you want to learn correct, efficient technique so that you can actually use the handgun for everything ELSE.

Description:
http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Fundamental201.html

I've edited my initial post so that our schedule is correct (with class names) and added the HT course we've set for March 8-9th.

If you've got friends who have a gun and are safe, but don't really know what to do besides slowfire on a lane---send 'em over.  :)

As always, registration can be done online at:

Just edited the schedule a bit---listed the space left in the CCW Lifestyle class on February 23rd.

As we add to the schedule, and as classes pass, I'll keep editing the schedule so that people can see what is available.  I'll also try to keep it updated as to how much room there is left in the various classes.

Is there any plans in the works for another CCW Lifestyle course? (maybe sometime between this one and summer?) I really would like to go to this one, but unfortunately work is stubbornly in the way.  :(

I'm not sure if we'll be able to fit in another one before summer---we've got a lot scheduled, and our calendars are a little full.  If you can find 5-6 people who are all interested, we might put together a special class, perhaps...PM me if you are interested in that.

We will be holding a couple more CCW Lifestyle classes this year, however.   Minimum, probably one in the summer and one towards the end of the year. (And we generally run at least two over the winter season.)

Just edited the schedule to remove the CCW Lifestyle class (which went well, at least the instructors think so!) and to list that the Introduction to Handgun class on March 22-23 is now full.

We do still have spaces left in the HT class on March 8-9, by the way.  If you are interested, get yourself registered!

HT class is now past, so the next one up is the Intro class.

There is still space in the Level III Shooting Skills class, for those who are interested.  Please bear in mind that this class is designed for people who already know how to shoot accurately, draw quickly, and reload with efficiency.

Then we'll make you better.  :)

We'll probably be scheduling another CCW Lifestyle course in late August/early September, with another HT class right after it.  When we do, we'll add it to the schedule.

Introduction to Handguns class finished up today, even in the cold and the snow.  People had a good time, and did REALLY WELL----shooting steel is a lot of fun, isn't it?  :)

Next up:  Shooting Skills on April 6th (our level III handgun skills course) ---there is one spot left in the class, so if you are interested, sign up!

Well, we got a little cold, and a little windblown---but the Shooting Skills course seemed to go well.

Well, except for the people who were screamingly frustrated by lunchtime.  ???  However, people ended up seeing significant improvements by the end of class, so that's all good.

And occasional stress-and-frustration-related high blood pressure occurrences are actually good for you.

Well, kinda.   ::)

(For those who don't understand the not-very-funny joke:  Breaking bad habits and instilling new good habits is HARD.  Useful, makes a significant difference, raises your final capability level---but frustratingly difficult to do.)

(Also edited the original post to show the class is past.)
