TL;DR  New York is revoking the FOID cards and demanding the surrender of firearms of people who have been prescribed certain types of Anxiety/Depression medicine.

Not surprising at all.  Wait till they try this on the thousands of returning vets, then they'll have really kicked over an anthill.

The unbelievable thing  is that SSRI's have been prescribed for over eating, premature ejaculation, anxiety and  other disorders.  So, you can kiss the 2nd ("shall  not be infringed"), the 4th (unreasonable search and seizure) and the 5th (use of your medical records to testify against you) good bye in NY.

the reasoning behind these confiscations are sick.

Think about this... theres really only two ways to view this...either way its ****ed up and wrong and proves how screwed up our government is.

A) They're saying that medications prescribed for any number of common issues including over-eating, premature ejaculation, anxiety, and other NON LIFE THREATENING issues, medications that make billions of billions of dollars, that are in turned invested into presidential campaigns etc... could, potentially make a mass murderer out of an otherwise harmless person. And they're okay with the first part, but not if they own a firearm.

B) They're using it as an excuse to trample on our 2nd Amendment rights and steal our firearms out from under our noses through the guise of "public safety".

If you think this couldn't happen in Nebraska, I'd like to introduce you to my friends who were jailed for home schooling in this state.   Government slime-balls working to "wipe out" a designated "undesirable" subclass one family at a time is not a new tactic...
