Reid filed a Cloture Motion this morning on S.649, which shuts off filibustering and debate and moves it to the floor for a vote as soon as Thursday morning.

Gun registration and subsequent confiscation?

TITLE I--FIX GUN CHECKS ACT

SEC. 101. SHORT TITLE.

This title may be cited as the `Fix Gun Checks Act of 2013'.
Subtitle A--Ensuring That All Individuals Who Should Be Prohibited From Buying a Gun Are Listed in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System

All individuals who  should be prohibited?  How could they know in advance that a particular person should be prohibited unless universal registration is required so that they could examine EVERYONE's records. Now you know how NY authorities used health records, in violation of the HIPPA act, to identify those who took a class of drugs called SSRI, for any reason, and then in violation of their 2nd, 4th and 5th Amendment rights went into their homes without a warrant and confiscated all their  firearms and accessories.

SEC. 111. REAUTHORIZATION OF NICS ACT RECORD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANTS,  will authorize the Attorney General to withhold Federal funds from states which do not comply with what amounts to universal gun registration.

The Attorney General, in determining the compliance of a State under this section or section 104 for the purpose of granting a waiver or imposing a loss of Federal funds, shall assess the total percentage of records provided by the State concerning any event occurring within the time period established by the Attorney General under subparagraph (B), which would disqualify a person from possessing a firearm under subsection (g) or (n) of section 922 of title 18, United States Code.

A government big enough to give you everything you need or want is big enough to take everything you have.  Now, we are moving into the taking phase.  Taking what?  Freedoms.  Ask the 6 year old who made a finger gun and was treated like a gangland hoodlum.  Or the girl who brought a plastic knife in  her lunch box to slice her sandwich and fruit and was suspended because of Zero Brains tolerance.

Sec 509 is supposed to make schools and colleges safer.  You read it and tell me how.  I can't see it.  But, it does increase government snooping, spying in schools and control of local law enforcement.

Both Johanns and Fischer web sites state their opposition to this.  But it didn't stop from me from contacting them, AGAIN! >:D
