There's a provision that basically says that they'll accept a permit that has "substantially similar" training standards (I forget the exact wording). Now considering they require more training than any other state in the country, who knows what states will fulfill that requirement. They're also offering a non-resident permit but you still need the 16 hours of training and the cost of the permit is $300. Considering how often I'm in Illinois, I may end up forking it over. It just depends on if there are any legal challenges.

$300 is outrageous.

Here is a basic rundown of how Illinois' concealed carry law works: http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38460

I saw yesterday that the state was given 30 more days so the governor could review the law before signing it.
