Precision Response Training is holding an Introduction to Handguns course on June 21-22.  (Class is 6-9pm Friday night and all day Saturday.)  This course is designed for people who have little or no experience with handguns.  (That being said, quite a few people who normally only shoot rifles or shotguns would also benefit from this course.)

The Introduction to Handgun course is a handgun familiarization course designed to teach the fundamentals of safe gun handling. By the end of the course, students will understand the basic parts, action, and manual of arms for standard semi-automatic pistols and revolvers; have practiced correct stance, grip, sighting, trigger control, and breathing; have continually demonstrated and ingrained the rules of safe gun handling; and have practiced shooting a handgun on the range.  (You'll also get a chance to handle numerous types/versions of handguns.)

This course, among other things, includes all material from the NRA Basic Pistol curriculum, and the instructors are official NRA Pistol Instructors. Students who successfully fulfill all requirements for the NRA Basic Pistol course will receive a NRA course completion certificate.

If you don't want this course for yourself, you can also buy a gift certificate for this course for someone else on the registration page.  :)

I highly recommend taking a class from PRT.  While I have not taken this specific class, I have taken several others and my shooting has improved considerably because of it.
