Entering the confusing world of gun safes
(1/1)
altheman2:
I have been looking at upgrading my Stack-On gun safe....a heck of a safe unless someone over 13 breaks into your house with a hammer and screwdriver and wants your guns. I want to upgrade and had my heart set on a Cannon http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/cannon-ts6026e-challenger-gun-safe-24-gun-capacity and after a little research I came up with a few to many results on Cannon E-Lock failure. If it fails after a year you are on your own and it seems like quite a few fail . So my search continues. My latest candidate is a Cabela's Woodsman Gun Safe by Liberty lifetime warranty on safe and 5 year warranty on dial lock. Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions.
Basically what I am looking for
A good safe for good money
30 min fire protection at a min
A good lock with a good warranty-my biggest fear is being locked out of my own safe
Weight is an issue. I really don't want to go over 500lbs
Need space for 22-ish guns.
prefer dial lock over e lock
I want to keep people with hammers, screwdrivers, screwdrivers and other common tools out.
I don't have a lot of high dollar guns but many have sentimental value if someone breaks in with a thermal lance I guess that's what insurance is for
If you have a great gun safe or any recommendations I would love to hear them!

I have one of their products and am very pleased with it.

thanks for the insight guys...FarmerRick thanks for the recommendation I ran across sturdy safes but with no one giving them the personal A-ok I was a little skeptical but it seems like they build a good product, stand behind it and everyone that I read about having a problem with them on the various forums seems to get the problem resolved. And they meet Lmbass14 recommendations (thanks for the research I was looking for that thread I just didn't dig hard enough) Mudinyeri that's one base I do have covered. I did a DIY project to conceal a shotgun and a couple pistols very similar to what you offer. The more and more I think a primary and secondary safe seems to be the way to go, and nice s&g dial lock.
