Title: Got my daughter into guns
Post by: wrench78 on February 29, 2012, 09:25:45 PM
I just reciently got a new Glock and my daughter (7) was showing interest in it.  So I started teaching her safety rules of guns and the gun range.  About 2 weeks ago, she shot her first GSG 1911 .22.  She loved it.  Taking her this weekend to shoot a .22 rifle.  If she likes the rifle, She might be getting an early birthday present.   ;D

Good deal.  My 8 year old daughter loves to shoot too.

If you're in the Lincoln area the Izaak Walton League is having an indoor air rifle shoot for kids every Wednesday night until the end of March.  Cost is $2 to help cover CO2 and pellets.  I've taken my daughter a couple of times and she has a blast.

That's what you call good parenting.

Getting the next generation into guns is great!

No kids yet for me, but when they come along, they will get to start on what was thier great grandpas .22 revolver.

Not that we NEED a day, but we can always use another excuse, some in the Gun Blogosphere have put together a "Take Your Daughter to the Range Day"  check my post in another thread.  Some local ranges may be participating.  or check them out at the website or Facebook.

Thanks for the info everyone.  I'll have to look into all that stuff.  She is bouncing around asking me if it's Sat yet.  LOL  Here is a pic of her shooting the 1911.

Jealous!  My 12-weeker is still working on her prone position.  I told her that once she's got that down, she can get her first rifle.  An airsoft, Koenig, not a Barrett...

Nice tank Koenig.  Mindy said, "Oh my gosh..."  Which, I'm going to interpret as not being a firm "no".

Hey, women are kinda crazy with their signals and all, that " Oh My Gosh " could have been a " Oh My Gosh, that wold look so SWEET in the driveway!! "
(On the other hand, a single divorced middle aged man, probably understands very little about women ;) )

It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

my wife uses that on me all the time, and she used that excuse on my dad too.

We let our kids buy a single shot .22 when they turn 8 ..... Thus far, they have picked a Marlin 15y, a Savage Cub, another 15y, and yet another Marlin 15y- but that last one was stainless and had fire sights ....... youngest daughter turns 8 this August....... she does not care what gun she gets, so long as it is PINK!

You know what that picture looks like?

"Seriously, dad, you expect me to start with anything less than an Anschutz?"
