he started shooting a bb gun with supervision at 3
at 4 he was shooting a single shot 22 an his bb gun with hands on supervision
at 5 he was shooting his single shot 410, his 22, and his bb gun all super vised.
at 6 he was shooting his 20 gauge,410,22,an bb gun al supervised.at 6 he shot lots of doves, ducks rabits grouse an blue rocks.
at 7, he has added to his list of acomplishments a 25lb. turkey, an several geese,a limit on the last day 2-6- 09. and a truck load of praire dogs last summer.
he will turn 8 in march, it is way more fun watching and helping kids do there stuff than doing it yourself.
teach your kids to hunt and fish an you wont have to hunt for your kids.

when he was 4 an he first shot his single shot 22 he shot 50 rnd box an said he wanted to shoot more i told him he was out of bullets. the next time we went to shoot it he shot 1/2 a box an said he was done, i ask why an he said having a rifle was fine but it wasnt any good to him if he didnt have bullets for it so he would just save the rest till he got more bullets.

I agree and have always said the exact same phrase when it comes to hunting. I've been taking my oldest daughter(now 16) hunting since she was 8. She has many adventures and some turkeys under her belt along with many other memories that I hope she carries with her forever. She has been fishing with me since she was in a car seat. Her first fishing trip was sitting in her car seat in my 1977 chevy truck next to a farm pond I know of while I caught fish and showed them to her.
I hope to pass along hunting to my youngest daughter who is now 4. She needs to calm down a bit first though.

My son turns 4 in a couple months... but he's so small he can't properly shoulder any of the BB Guns we can find!!!!
he has a hunter-dan crossbow that we use to terrorize his stuffed animals with (and on occasion his sister...)

Since we lived in town I could not let her terrorize the town with a BB gun so we skipped that and went right off the bat with a scoped Chipmunk Youth Rifle. She learned to use open sights on a soft dart crossbow.
